Hycyon sits at the centre. Products — eBook Pro, BrainSpark and VaakBoard (coming soon) — orbit closest. Services, Engineering and the Lab form the outer orbit.

What Hycyon is

We build in two directions.

For the world

Software and digital experiences for clients.

Websites, applications and intelligent systems, built around what you actually need.

See services

For ourselves

Products, experiments and technology of our own.

Software we design, ship and maintain under the Hycyon name.

Software we designed, built and run ourselves. Every product shows its real status — nothing is listed as launched until it is.

LiveReading & learning

eBook Pro

A reader for people who study what they read. Open your own PDF, EPUB and text files, then highlight, annotate, translate and turn passages into notes and flashcards.

  • PDF, EPUB and TXT reading with page-turn animation
  • On-device OCR for scanned pages (English and Hindi)
  • Translation between English, Hindi and about 28 other languages
  • Notes, flashcards with spaced repetition, and research workspaces

Web app available · Android release in preparation

LiveCompetitive exam preparation

BrainSpark

A Hycyon product · Web

Mock tests built around your exam. Choose the exam, the topics and how many questions on each, and BrainSpark generates the paper, explains every answer and lets you ask a tutor about what you got wrong.

  • 24 named exam targets, from SSC CGL and UPSC CSE to JEE, NEET and Bank PO
  • Your own topic mix: set the questions per topic, up to 150 in a test
  • Diagrams for geometry, physics, chemistry and reasoning questions
  • English and Hindi, offline practice sets and per-topic results

Version 1.0 · Questions are AI-generated: check answers against your study material

Coming soonLanguage technology

VaakBoard

A Hycyon product · Web demo · iOS (coming soon)

A precision input system for Sanskrit and Devanāgarī, built around how the language is actually written — not a layout with letters swapped.

  • Latin and IAST to Devanāgarī, and back, with conjuncts, matras, anusvāra and visarga
  • Deterministic rules: the same input always gives the same output
  • Tested engine, shared by the web demo
  • Native iOS keyboard in preparation

Selected work

Built for clients, with the same care.

Each project is described by the problem it solved and what was built. Outcomes appear only when they are real.

Client projectArchitectural & decorative ironwork

iron's irony

The problem
A fabricator whose product is custom and site-specific had no way for a homeowner or architect to start a conversation without already knowing what to ask for.
The thinking
A site organised around the five stages of the work — measure, design, fabricate, finish, install — and a Start a Project flow that accepts a photo, a sketch or a rough measurement instead of a finished brief.
What was built
  • Next.js and TypeScript site with its own visual identity, separate from Hycyon
  • Server-validated enquiry flow with spam and rate protection, and WhatsApp, phone and email fallbacks
  • Rule-based project assistant that answers only from the site and never quotes prices
  • A feedback page where past customers share how it went; nothing is published until the owner confirms it and the person agrees
  • Structure ready for real project photography — none of it invented
What comes next
Real installations, photographs and customer words. Until they exist, the site shows labelled representative drawings and an empty feedback wall.

Why Hycyon

Client work, held to a product standard.

Build and product

Hycyon does not only build for clients. It ships its own products, so client work is held to a product standard.

Engineering and design

Technology and the experience of using it are decided together, not handed from one team to the next.

Product thinking

The goal is not to deliver code. The goal is to build something useful to the person using it.

Technical depth

Web, mobile, backend, on-device machine learning and AI — within one codebase and one team.

Continuous experimentation

Products evolve through experiments, and the experiments are allowed to be unusual.

Engineering

See what's under the hood.

Hycyon is built by engineers who don't stop at the interface. The engineering portfolio shows the projects, the code and the thinking behind them.

Explore the engineering portfolio

From interface to infrastructure.

Web
Static-first sites and web apps, Tailwind and vanilla HTML/CSS/JS, zero-dependency builds.
Mobile
Flutter and Dart apps for Android and iOS, with offline-first libraries and local notifications.
Backend
Node.js on Firebase Cloud Functions (2nd gen), callable APIs, Firebase Auth.
AI
Google Gemini behind a serverless proxy, retrieval-style summaries, AI tutoring flows.
Data
Firestore with security rules and indexes, conflict-preserving sync across devices.
Infrastructure
Firebase Hosting, GitHub Pages, Google Cloud Secret Manager for credentials.
Native
Swift, SwiftUI and CoreData on iOS, including a custom keyboard extension.
Product architecture
On-device OCR and translation with Google ML Kit, spaced-repetition scheduling, a single source of truth per product.

The Lab

Exploring what's next.

Where unusual ideas live without being mistaken for commercial products.

  • Artificial intelligence
  • Language technology
  • Education
  • Productivity
  • Developer tools
  • Experimental interfaces
Prototype

Sanskrit input engine

The language engine behind VaakBoard: Latin and IAST to Devanāgarī and back, covered by an automated test suite and running in a web demo. Language detection, suggestions and correction are not built yet — the roadmap says so.

Try the demo
Experiment
An idea tried to see what happens.
Prototype
Works well enough to test with people.
Research
Understanding before building.
Product

About

Why Hycyon exists.

Technology is a tool for turning ideas into things people can actually use.

Hycyon exists to build useful software, create products people return to, explore technology without a deadline, and solve real problems — whether they are ours or yours.

Based in Varanasi, India, Hycyon is young and building continuously. What it has built so far is the proof: two live products and the engineering behind them.

The builder

Abhishek Sharma

Founder · Engineer · Product Builder

Built by an engineer who cares about the details. Abhishek works across the stack — Flutter and Firebase, Swift on iOS, the web — and studies Sanskrit and Vedic literature alongside computer science.

That intersection of language and computation produced VaakBoard, a native Sanskrit keyboard for iOS, and it shapes how Hycyon thinks about products: precise, unconventional where it matters, useful first.
